The goal is not perfection—it’s connection. The real moments, the subtle expressions, the in-between seconds—that’s where the best photographs live.
Beyond the Pose: Timeless Beach Portraits
In a world of filters and fast photos, I choose a different pace. My focus is on connection over perfection—capturing the quiet glances and unhurried moments that make your family unique. Set against the soft light of the coast, I use a light touch to ensure your photos feel as natural and honest in twenty years as they do today.
A family beach session captures relaxed, joyful moments against the shifting light and wide-open horizon—children running through surf, grandparents seated on a blanket, and candid interactions framed by sand, sea, and sky. I encourage simple outfits and natural play rather than stiff poses, and I scout spots with varied textures—dunes, tide pools, expansive ocean—to add visual interest while prioritizing safety and comfort.
Tom has been involved in photography most of his life. He began primarily photographing landscapes and birds in New York state. His interest was piqued when he was asked to run his high school's darkroom and contribute photos to the yearbook.
He has traveled the world photographing in more than twenty countries, where his photographic interests and experience expanded. His love of photographing wildlife has taken him from the Andes Mountains in South America to the Galápagos Islands, Machu Picchu, and, most recently, South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia. Tom has taught photography in South America, Europe, and Asia.
Today, Tom enjoys teaching and tutoring photography and spends his spare time photographing wildlife. He can be seen shooting at golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, and other special events.
Since moving to the Eastern Shore, Tom has been teaching in three different venues, tutoring individual students, and shooting family beach portraits. He offers classes in Introduction to the Art of Photography, Digital Photography, Intermediate Photography, Essential Photography Equipment, Introduction to iPhone Photography, Advanced iPhone Photography, and several advanced and specialized Photography Classes. Tom speaks at HOAs, civic clubs, and interest groups. He teaches regular classes at the Ocean City Art League and South Coastal Library.
Tom is a member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and Nikon Professional Services (NPS)
